This page sets out some ideas as to how you could raise funds for Reuben And Friends by running your own event.

Fundraising Events

Reuben and Friends was established in February 2004 with an initial aim of raising £5,000. This goal was far exceeded in our first year with our fund raising total standing at around £46,000 by end of 2006!

We could not have achieved this fantastic result without the help of so many wonderful supporters, most of whom have arranged events themselves and donated the funds to Reuben and Friends.

As you can see from our amazing diary of events, the team and our supporters have been involved in a diverse range of events; from Line Dancing to Church Coffee Mornings!

We have been delighted with every single penny that has been raised through the efforts, not only of people closely associated with the group but also people across the country. Not forgetting our local team of cyclists who peddled from the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa - adding an international touch to our efforts! In order that we can continue to raise sufficient funds to help our beneficiaries, we need the continued support of people like them and you. Whilst we will continue to arrange different events throughout the year, we are always keen to talk to anyone who has a fund raising idea and would like to help us.

Company Donations:

Maybe your company is looking for a charity to sponsor for a year or two?.....why not speak with your boss and ask he or she if they would be interested in arranging a monthly dress down day and you can donate money to Reuben and Friends. Don’t worry you don’t have to do anything other than set a theme for each month, make a small donation and send the proceeds to one of our Team Members in one of our collection boxes that we can supply free of charge.

Church Coffee Mornings:

This is an excellent idea and has proven results for us this year. Birstal Methodist Church nominated Reuben and Friends as their chosen charity for a year and very kindly donated all their proceeds from their coffee mornings to our charity. May be you might be able to arrange something similar through your local church? We would be happy to come along and bring free leaflets, balloons, stickers and offer a helping hand at the coffee or cake stall?

Charity Run:

We have had a number of supporters donate their sponsorship money from events such as The Great North Run, The London Marathon and The Flora Challenge. Don’t forget every little helps and your efforts and very much valued and appreciated.

Schools and Colleges:

We have had invaluable support from our local schools, colleges and nurseries, through dress down days, coffee mornings and generally helping out by advertising our events in the way of ‘book bag’ leaflets. Should you be interested in helping this way, please contact us immediately. One local school donated half of their re-cycling day money to our charity – do you have similar events that you could get involved with and help make a difference to Reuben and Friends?
How about asking your Head Teacher if they would like to support our Book Launch by selling books at their school events?
